Once a year, between the months of Gahmil and Raquas, the way to Freedom Gate is opened for the Passing of Years festival. During the Kaer wide celebration, the entire population of Kaer Ardanyan celebrates a new year. As part of the ritual of celebrating a new year, the entire kaer walks down the long stretch of hallway from Council Hall to Freedom Gate. Written, painted and carved into a section of the wall is the previous years highlights and activities for all to remember.

During this 5 day festival, there is much rejoicing, eating, drinking, and the Okoros Games.
